"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging."
Psalm 46:1-3
Faith in God provides strength and resilience even when we face with seemingly insurmountable challenges.
On September 12, 2012, my life took a terrifying turn when I lost my footing and fell into a deep monsoon drain behind my house while checking on the completion of a storage shack for my garden tools. As I tumbled in, the jagged shards of broken glass and tiles cut deep into the sole of my right foot, and my head struck the concrete with such force that it swelled to the size of a ping-pong ball. Panic washed over me as I feared I might collapse and lose my life. Yet, summoning every ounce of strength, I climbed out of that 6-foot deep drain and managed to wash my bleeding wound in the garden. My son rushed me to the hospital, where I spent a grueling 4.5 hours in the operating room as doctors worked to dress my wound properly. The situation grew dire when gangrene set in, and I faced the looming possibility of having my right leg amputated.
In In my darkest hour, the comforting words of Psalm 46:1-3 echoed in my mind, reminding me that the Lord is our refuge and strength, especially when my wife rallied round-the-clock prayer for my recovery. By the seventh day, a miracle occurred - the infection began to subside, and against all odds, I was able to keep my leg. I emerged from this harrowing experience not only with my life intact but also with a profound sense of gratitude and faith.
Psalm 46:1-3 reminds us that regardless of life's upheavals, we can find solace and stability in God's unwavering presence and support, assuring us that He is our ultimate defender and source of strength in every situation.
“Without faith, nothing is possible.”
