“It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God - that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.”
1 Corinthians 1:30
Christ’s righteousness is not something we achieve through our own efforts, but a gift we receive through faith in Him.
Charles Colson was an American attorney and political advisor who served as Special Counsel to President Richard Nixon from 1969 to 1970. He was known as Nixon's "hatchet man" for his aggressive tactics and involvement in the Watergate scandal. He was indicted for obstruction of justice and served seven months in prison in 1974. He was saved while serving his jail sentence and was humbled and broken by his prison experience.
In 1996, he founded Prison Fellowship Ministries which has become the largest Christian NGO equipping the Church to serve the incarcerated people and their families and to advocate for justice and human dignity. He passed away in 2012 at age 80. He was one of the most influential evangelical leaders devoting his life to sharing the Gospel’s message of love and hope with million of prisoners and their families.
1 Corinthians 1:30 reminds us that our salvation is not just about escaping punishment, but about being transformed into the image of Christ. Through him, we receive wisdom, righteousness, holiness, and redemption, enabling us to live a life of purpose and meaning in God's will.
