DAILY REFLECTION - BY BROTHER TAN TAK SENG

“For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace,” Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭14‬-‭15‬ ‭

Sometimes, the cracks in a relationship are where the light shines through to provide a source of hope, forgiveness, and restoration.

On 26 Feb 2025, City Developments Ltd., the financial hub’s biggest listed developer, plunged into crisis when its billionaire Chairman Kwek Leng Beng accused his son, the firm’s CEO, of orchestrating a boardroom coup. The conflict between the senior Kwek and his son may be characterised by a "dividing wall of hostility" rooted in generational differences, differing values, and past grievances due to a combination of poor business performance issues.

The family feud serves as a reminder of the importance of reconciliation, unity, and the need to overcome divisions. It means creating peace and harmony by setting aside differences and working towards shared goals, mutual respect, and open communication to resolve conflicts and rebuild trust. By embracing Christ's message of unity and reconciliation, the father and son can overcome division and build a stronger and more loving relationship.

Ephesians 2:14-15 illustrates that through Christ, the hostilities between generational differences and values can be overcome. It encourages believers to let go of their past grievances and embrace a more forgiving and understanding approach, leading them to unity in shared goal, purpose and love.
