“The greedy bring ruin to their households, but the one who hates bribes will live.”
Proverbs 15:27
When an individual is driven by greed, they often place their interests above the well-being of their family, leading to conflicts, poor decision-making, and emotional turmoil.
Stu Fuhlendorf is a former atheist who is now a senior pastor at Redemption Hills Church in Littleton, Colorado. He had a successful career in the business world, achieving significant wealth and becoming a multimillionaire by the age of 40. His pursuit of success and wealth ultimately led to a sense of emptiness and dissatisfaction despite his outward achievements. His focus on work and his struggles with alcoholism put a strain on his marriage and family life.
In his desperate moment, he repented and came to faith in Jesus Christ. His conversion marked a shift in his priorities, moving away from the pursuit of worldly success and towards a more fulfilling life based on faith and relationships.
Proverbs 15:27 warns against the destructive nature of greed. It emphasises the importance of integrity and urges individuals to prioritise the well-being of their families and uphold moral values over the pursuit of material gain.
“Greed is not a financial issue. It is a heart issue.”
